Cypress Corners

January 1, 2011

Cypress Corners is an innovative and vibrant community of creative individuals providing a rich artistic and cultural exchange in what had once been an overlooked corner in the heart of Chattanooga.

The focus of Cypress Corners is to provide a mixed-use community of artists, arts organizations and creative businesses that will enhance the vitality and cultural awareness of the community at large.

The two buildings in Cypress Corners are available for lease and will be built-out to accommodate the needs of this specialized community. The development is conveniently located off of E. Main Street with easy access to downtown and I-24. Tenants will benefit from ample parking, secure storage, loading docks and street front retail, gallery, studio and performance spaces.

The 23,800 sq. ft. building at the intersection of Gulf and 16th street is a charming two-story brick building features an open floor plan and 12’ high ceilings. Architect and co-owner Tom Bartoo is heading the project design.

Across the street from the new Habitat for Humanity headquarters and adjoining Cypress Corners at the juncture of Main and Gulf is a 66,000 sq. ft. edifice. The huge brick building embodies the old charm of its historic roots as a knitting mill.

Current Tenants:

1601 Gulf Street Building- The Mill (event hall), Tubatomic (Web based marketing company), Casey Baugh (portrait artist), Quiddity (event planner), Porini USA (Web based marketing company), Rebecca Gates (painter).

1200 Main Street Building-- Performance Video Productions (documentary production), Method Architecture (Tom Bartoo), DJ Smith Construction (contractor), Henry Lautz (sculptor), Sloan-Strickland (sculptor), and Brian Rasmussen (sculptor).

The remaining space in the building is available for custom renovations for tenants such as restaurants, offices, artist studios, dance troupes, musicians, actors, arts organizations, and a black box style theatre. The largest room in the building has approximately 12,500 sq ft of beautiful original maple floors with high ceilings – it would be a spectacular space for the right user.
